Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) Texas Division Appoints Theron Park as Market President and CEO of St. Joseph Health

HOUSTON, TX – June 14, 2018 – The CHI Texas Division has appointed Theron Park Market President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of St. Joseph Health (St. Joseph) effective July 30, 2018. A well-respected healthcare leader, Theron brings to St. Joseph an accomplished, established career as an administrator committed to continuous quality improvement and the highest standards of clinical excellence. “We are very pleased to welcome a proven leader like Theron Park to our Division leadership team,” said T. Douglas Lawson, PhD, President and CEO, CHI Texas Division. “With an extensive background in both inpatient and ambulatory healthcare settings, his operational expertise coupled with his approach to leadership provides the right combination necessary to further the delivery of healthcare in Bryan, College Station, and across the Brazos Valley, including expanding our newly announced partnership between St. Joseph and Texas A&M.” In his new role, Theron will work closely with CHI Texas Division and St. Joseph leaders, staff, and physicians to transform and improve healthcare delivery at St. Joseph and strengthen the quality and effectiveness of services provided to patients and the community. “The legacy of St. Joseph, its longstanding commitment to Catholic healthcare, and the devotion of its staff and physicians is what really captured my interest in joining the CHI Texas Division,” said Theron Park. “In order to better serve our community and extend our healing ministry, it is important to me that we not only ensure operational and clinical excellence, but we also recognize the calling answered each day by the dedicated staff and physicians through the sacred work they do.” Theron joins the CHI Texas Division from Providence St. Joseph Health, Oregon Region, where he served as Chief Executive, Delivery System. He led more than 10,000 caregivers who cared for patients in eight hospitals, 14 joint ventures, a large reference lab, and more than 60 outpatient sites spread across five geographic markets. Providence St. Joseph is among the largest Catholic health systems in the country. Theron has also served as Chief Executive for Providence Portland Medical Center, a 483-bed tertiary hospital, and Providence Milwaukie Hospital, a 77-bed community hospital. Prior to joining Providence, he served in rural hospitals and health systems in Texas and Montana in a variety of roles of increasing responsibility. Originally from Texas, Theron received a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from Trinity University and a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Accounting from Texas A&M University. He is an active member of numerous professional organizations and various community groups. “After an extensive search, we believe that Mr. Park is the right leader for St. Joseph as we continue to expand our network of care,” said James “Jeb” E.
