“Our partnership with HealthSouth and the expansion of inpatient rehabilitation services is another example of our commitment to lead the advancement of healthcare for our community,” said Rick Napper, President and CEO for St. Joseph Health. “As we consider our expanding population and the projected growth rate for those 65 and older here in the Brazos Valley, we feel it is important that our community have access to best in class rehabilitation services designed to meet changing needs and increasing demand.”

The 49-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital opened to patients on Monday, Aug. 1. The newly renovated space, located at 1600 St. Joseph Dr. near the St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital campus, includes an on-site pharmacy, state-of-the-art technologies and an expanded on-site therapy gym. The hospital, which is fully ADA accessible, provides inpatient rehabilitation services including occupational, physical and speech therapies to patients who are recovering from conditions such as stroke and other neurological disorders, cardiac and pulmonary conditions, brain and spinal cord injuries, complex orthopedic conditions and amputations.

“This rehabilitation hospital is the product of two healthcare leaders coming together with patient care and needs in mind,” says Gray. “We look forward to taking first steps with patients after a hip fracture, assisting them with safely returning to their favorite hobbies after a stroke and helping them say their first words after experiencing a brain injury. This hospital will provide the expertise, the space and the tools needed to accomplish those goals as well as integrating these patients back into the community.”
