Skilled Nursing Units Maintain Five-Star CMS Rating

Posted in: Accreditations

Bryan, TX, August 30, 2018 - St. Joseph Health Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Bryan and Burleson have earned a Five-star rating with the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS), the highest ratings of long-term care facilities in our area. CMS created the Five-Star Quality Rating System to help the public identify the quality of each nursing home, with five being above-average quality and one being below average quality. This data is updated every six to 18 months. The St. Joseph Health long-term care facilities have a five-star rating, based on the totals of weighted star ratings from health inspections, staffing and quality measures. Metrisa Garrett, Regional Director of Post-Acute Services stated, “Both facilities achieved this rating, because our team– from Administrators to our Directors of Nursing to nursing staff – works hard to create a culture of excellence. Utilizing best practices, each facility works proactively to improve the quality of care each resident receives through performance improvement initiatives”. Garrett also points out, “Our system’s integrated and supportive approach to regulatory affairs and performance improvement also contributes to the success of our Joint Commission-accredited skilled nursing locations.” About St. Joseph Health St. Joseph Health, part of Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI), includes a comprehensive network of over 100 employed providers including primary care physicians, specialists and advanced practice clinicians.
