St. Joseph Health Vaccine Supply and Hub Designation Update

HOUSTON (January 20, 2021) – St. Luke’s Health is coordinating closely with local and state public health departments to ensure effective vaccine distribution in their communities and is participating in the administration of COVID-19 vaccines according to the state guidelines for distribution.

Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston and St. Joseph Health College Station Hospital in College Station are among dozens of providers that have been named as vaccination hubs by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). As a large designated vaccine site, these facilities are focusing on vaccinating health care workers and members of the community who meet the state guidelines. We will continue to expand our vaccination capacity as more supply of the vaccine is available.

Baylor St. Luke’s expects to receive 1,950 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine sometime this week. The shipment, which is part of the Week 6 allocation of the vaccine, will be used to administer first doses to high-risk individuals who meet the Phase 1a (health care workers, first responders) and Phase 1b (aged 65 and older or under 65 with underlying conditions) guidelines.

St. Luke’s Health will be contacting eligible individuals on its waiting list via phone and MyChart to schedule them for an appointment to get the first dose of the vaccine. We are prioritizing individuals who are already on our waiting list, but encourage those who are not on the waiting list to complete a form online to be placed on the waiting list at stlukeshealth.org/CovidVaccine. Once the vaccine is available to the individual, a unique link will be sent to the email address on file. Individuals with a St. Luke’s Health MyChart account are asked to check the contact information on their profile and verify that it is up to date.

For those without a computer or internet access, Baylor St. Luke’s has launched a vaccine information call center at (832) 844-6352 that people can call to request to be placed on the waiting list. These individuals will be contacted whenever it is their turn to get the vaccine. The line is answered by live operators Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

At St. Luke’s Health, it is our priority to administer COVID-19 vaccines as quickly and safely as possible. To date, St. Luke’s Health facilities have administered more than 27,000 doses of the vaccine to individuals who meet the state’s guidelines for distribution. Vaccine supply remains limited, so we urge the community to be patient and continue to follow CDC guidelines for the pandemic. Vaccines are just one tool in our toolkit to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please remember to wash your hands regularly, always wear face coverings in public, and follow social distancing guidelines and government quarantine directives in your area.
